Oaklea Barns is situated in a conservation area of Lydiate, a village just outside of Southport. Just across the road from us is the Scotch Piper Inn, one of the oldest Inns in the country and dates back to 1320. Next door to “The Scotch” is the remains of Lydiate Abbey built in 1500 as a place of worship for the Lords of Lydiate.
Liverpool’s famous waterfront has been designated a World Heritage Site. It consists of six distinctive historic areas, which reflect its functional and visual variety. It stretches along the waterfront from Albert Dock through The Pier Head and up to Stanley Dock, and up through the historic commercial districts and the RopeWalks area to the historic cultural quarter around William Brown Street.
