Oaklea Barn is at the perfect point of where urban meets rural ensuring guests have the choice of both vibrant city lights, picturesque green spaces and stunning coastlines.  Here’s just a selection of places to visit, which are all under 30 minutes away from Oaklea Barn. 

Combine a bracing walk along the shoreline with a visit Antony Gormley’s Another Place at Crosby beach.  Known locally as The Iron Men, this thought provoking, contemporary art installation consists of 100 cast-iron, life size figures spread out along 3 kilometers of sands and almost 1 kilometer out to sea.  

Formby Point Nature Reserve managed by The National Trust provides a variety of things to see and do for all the family.  There’s the Red Squirral Walk and you can see the rare natterjack toads in their natural habitat.

Situated in neighbouring Lancashire is Martin Mere home to over 2000 different species of birds and other wildlife.  Events are hosted throughout the year.
